John C. Hall, DDS, MS
Offering services in dental implants, treatment of periodontal disease, cosmetic oral surgery and oral surgery, Dr. John Hall has been a periodontist in Traverse City since 1998. He is a native of Northern Michigan. After graduating from Central Michigan University in 1991 with a bachelor’s degree in Biology, he attended the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, completing a dental degree in 1995. Dr. Hall then began a three-year residency in periodontics at U of M.
At the end of his residency, Dr. Hall was awarded the Sigurd Ramfjord Award, named for a University of Michigan professor and School of Dentistry chair who was known internationally for his leadership in establishing the specialty of periodontics (dental treatment of gum disease). “I’m very proud to be a graduate of the periodontal program at the U of M,” says Dr. Hall. “The program has an excellent reputation in the profession for its strength both in clinical studies and in research.”
“I feel honored to be asked back to give occasional lectures to current periodontal program students at the U of M and to students in NMC’s assisting program,” he adds. “I really enjoy working with students who are studying periodontal dentistry or periodontal dental assisting.”
In 2005 Dr. Hall was awarded Diplomate status from the American Board of Periodontology. Only a small number of periodontists in private practice distinguish themselves by going through the process of board certification, which requires comprehensive qualifying and oral examinations and recertification every six years.
Dr. Hall is an active member of the Resort District Dental Society, The American Dental Association, the Michigan Periodontal Association, and the American Academy of Periodontology. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Michigan Dental Association. He is also active in the Traverse City Rotary Club. He resides in Traverse City and has five grown children. Dr. Hall enjoys fishing, hunting, fitness activities, and family fun.
Francesca Racca, DDS, MS
We are delighted to welcome Dr. Francesca Racca to our dental practice this August 2025! Dr. Racca is a board-eligible periodontist, and we look forward to the expertise and care she will bring to our patients.
Dr. Francesca Racca earned her dental degree from one of the highest-ranked dental programs in Brazil at the University of Campinas in 2018. During her time as a dental student, Dr. Racca was also active in research activities in the Periodontics department, receiving funding to perform several research studies in the field of epigenetics. After graduating, she was accepted into the University of Campinas’ Master’s Program in Periodontology, which she completed in 2021. During the Master’s Program, her work focused on studying epigenetic changes in periodontal ligament cells that were treated with various drugs aimed at promoting osteogenic regeneration.
In 2022, Dr. Racca enrolled in The Ohio State University’s Advanced Education Residency Program in Periodontics, which she successfully completed in 2025 obtaining a second Master’s Degree and a certificate in Periodontics. Her clinical research concentrated on different techniques for osseous regeneration in preparation for implant placement. Throughout the three-year residency, she specialized in treating, regenerating, and rehabilitating patients with periodontal conditions. Additionally, she served as a teaching assistant, supervising dental students as they provided periodontal care to patients.
After passing the American Board of Periodontology written exam, Dr. Racca is now board-eligible. She provides treatment for periodontal disease, dental implants, bone regeneration, and cosmetic and oral surgeries.
In her free time, Dr. Racca enjoys spending time with her husband and two dogs, hiking, cooking for friends, and practicing embroidery.
